Watford unveil new second kit by sending free shirts to fans who attended all away games last season

WATFORD have left rival fans green with envy after handing out free shirts to supporters who went to all 19 league away games last year.

The Hornets celebrated the release of their second strip by rewarding loyal punters with new tops.

Troy Deeney wrote a message to loyal fans who went to every Premier League away game last season

And the kind gesture was accompanied by a message from skipper Troy Deeney, 30, thanking them for their support.

He wrote: “I know some of you getting this might not be the type to wear replica shirts, but find a good home for it among family and friends and remind them that you receiving it is attached to a lot of pride in our club.

“Supporting the biggest clubs in the country is easy.

“You don’t have to be there all the time – you can watch them on the telly and say you’re fan. It’s different with us and that’s why we wanted you to know it matters.”

Troy Deeney hailed Hornets supporters for choosing them over the traditional bigger clubs

Watford fans have been celebrating the brilliant gesture on social media.

Although not all of them are on board with the choice of colour.

Twitter user @Proton1974 wrote: “ I love the gesture – makes me proud to support my local club to see away fans recognised – but a green kit ????  just not Watford”.

While @JRBWatford was a little kinder – writing: “The best way to announce a new Away kit.

“I might not be too keen on it at all but what a way to announce it and how generous. So much respect and if I got it I would treasure it!”
