The people in the VW Caddy fled the scene before police arrived.

Police said the OAP had been rushed to hospital after the July 10 crash but her condition had since deteriorated to be life-threatening.

PC Paul Shore, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this collision or anybody with information that they believe can assist.

“We would be particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have dashcam footage of the events leading up to the collision or the events that followed.

“This collision has left a woman in a life threatening condition and we need to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened.”
