Everton aim to clinch £14m deal for Barcelona left-back Lucas Digne

EVERTON are hoping to clinch a £14million deal for Barcelona full-back Lucas Digne.

New boss Marco Silva is struggling to persuade his transfer targets to move to Merseyside and has yet to make a single signing since replacing Sam Allardyce.

Everton are eyeing a £14m deal for Lucas Digne

Brazilian winger Malcom has made it clear that he does not fancy a move to Goodison despite Everton’s £36million bid for the Bordeaux star.

And the club’s pursuit of Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha also looks doomed in the face of rival interest from Spurs and Borussia Dortmund.

But Silva is more optimistic of completing a deal for 25-year-old Digne, who is ready to leave Barcelona after two years in the Nou Camp shadows.

The French international defender has spent the last two seasons playing understudy to Marcelo since his £14million move from Paris St.Germain in 2016.

Digne was devastated to be left out of his country’s World Cup squad this summer after being placed on stand- by Didier Deschamps.

And he believes that he needs to leave the Spanish champions to reignite his career after winning 21 caps for his country.

Everton have been in the market for a long-term replacement for veteran left-back Leighton Baines for more than a year.

Now Silva is relying on Everton’s new director of football Marcel Brands to break the club’s transfer duck.
